Portrait:

My inspiration for this piece was that I wanted to challenge myself. It's all about challenges. This picture stood out to me because there were hands and fingers involved which I had never tried. The Face to me is always the easiest so I decided to try something new, Katie Holmes.

I created Katie Holmes using a lot of value and time. The hair was the hardest because I had to draw out the individual pieces.

Artist Statements

Watercolor Painting:

I created this piece because the Northern Lights stuck out to me, even though it looked like a challenge.

I didn't know where to begin or even how to do it in the beginning but when I started to add color I could see how it would look when I was done.

Acrylic Painting:

My Acrylic painting was inspired by style. My Style I picked was Surrealism because it's in a dream-like state. My painting was based off Medusa and her snakes because she is not real and can only appear in your dreams but not in real life.

I created this piece on a canvas with a gray background. I started by stretching out the medusa head then begin to add the snakes with different types of greens. I outlined the picture and then painted the lips red and gave her fangs.

Pen and Ink:

My inspiration for this piece was to challenge myself. It looked difficult because of all the fur and how it would look after it was completed.

In order to create this piece, I mapped out the things that stood out the most( nose, eyes, and ears). Then, I did my watercolor wash to the background. I used many strokes to create different textures of the fur.

Perspective:

I created this piece because it was interesting. The levels of the castle are what struck me the most because it would be hard to draw.

I created this piece by using a ruler and a pencil. I chose the 3 point perspective.

Oil Pastels:

My inspiration for this piece was fruit. It didn't want to choose a fruit that was too common but neither unknown.

I created this piece by using oil pastels. I drew out the peel of the pomegranate and its seeds. Then I mixed some purple, red, orange and yellows to get the right colors.

Collaboration Piece:

I created this piece because I wanted to do something that symbolized America.             I created it by breaking the picture in fourths and with each person doing a piece. In the end, it can together to match.

Tiki Sculpture:

My inspiration for this piece was the God Lono because it was unique and represented fertility. I am a female and that God was more Feminine than the others.

I created the sculpture by first rolling my stab into a cylinder. From there, I cut out the eyes and mouth to make it stand out. I created the nose, belly, and legs by adding chunks of clay and smoothing them out as they would blend in. Then, I began to add other things like flowers to make it complete.
